I’m going on vacation in early September and I want to bring my Canon S3 IS with me, but I don’t want to bring it in a camera bag because I’d have to set it down to go on the rides and someone could easily snatch it. The only alternative I could think of is a fanny pack, but they can look pretty ugly.
Anyone have any better suggestions?

fanny packs do look ugly but….. i use one all the time at the parks – makes life easier and safer. i DO recommend taking a ziploc bag to put the camera, phone, etc into when you go on the wet rides OR it rains. i actually take one taht the whole fanny pack can fit into!
BTW – i was just there recently and more people had fanny packs – trust me no one will even notice!

Unless you have a jacket or something with a large pocekt in it a fanny pack would be best. If you re travelling when it is a bit cooler ad can weaar a light jacket or vest then you could do what I did. I found one with several larger secured pockets and used that to carry my camera in.

If its small enough you can put it in your pocket, that’s what my wife made me do and it worked out ok.

whenever i go to an amusement park i carry a small backpack purse. can easily fit all of your stuff and u can easily wear it on the rides, plus you dont have to worry about it when it comes time for pictures :) ive never had a problem with bringing it on a ride yet. just put everything valuable in a ziplock bag just in case it gets wet.good luck

I always bring my digital camera and my video recorder -lucky that now i have a DVD cam which is much smaller and lighter! I carry around both, the digital in my pocket or with the cord around my wrist adn my dvd cam i put the strap from my old camera on it and i keep it around me like a purse kinda thing. When i am on rides i hold it so it does bounce around. Never had any problems of people trying to steal things. On most rides the compartments are under YOUR feet only so it’d be hard to grab underneath someone elses. I would wear the strap around you though, then you’ll never set it down and forget it. If you want high quality pics but dont want to bring any camera, disney was photopass which takes your families pictures around the parks or on rides and for about $100 you can get a CD with all of them from your whole trip. Call disney and ask about it. enjoy your trip! OH by the way if you carry ANY sort of bag, even a fanny pack when you enter the park you’ll have to stand in the LONG lines so they can check your bags. The lines that say “for guests without bags” you can get in tons quicker!
